That's City with a Capital "C" ... and Crossroads Part: Duh

The move is over. The dust may never settle, especially since the leaf blower/jackhammer/backhoe/flagman ensemble across Broad St. has been going full blast since I moved in.

I did this just in the nick of time. On Friday, my landlord/roomie of late, John-the-Zoloft-Fiend, laid a $210 utility bill on me -- the same day I was moving out. I paid 1/3 of that mess, bringing my combined renter's fee for a 12 x 15-foot room in oh-so-over-priced West Seattle to well over $500 a month. FORGET THAT! I now have a 500-square-foot, top floor loft for $422 + gas and electric and, it's actually HOT in the apartment what with the southwest exposure and my nether neighbors cranking their gas; so hot I may have my furnace turned off the end of this week making my only gas appliance the swankest, brand newest oven you never saw.

Still working on the whole park-the-car-in-the-industrial-area-and-bus thing. Missed the first #74 yesterday but caught the second with 3 minutes to spare at work.

There are so many cubby-hole stores and curiosity shops in Queen Anne and Fremont. Gonna go exploring with the digital camera if I ever see a day off from the McJob. Fremont is boat city. That's what I need! A boat! I can drive it to the docks below the University of Washington. All you need is a good boat here.

In other news, did a phone interview with the CDF yesterday. I was too late to call and cancel, so just thought what the hell. I scored 72 out of a 100, putting me in the next to the top tier of summer firefighter candidates. Also found out they're not expecting anyone to show up for work until June 1 ... sooo I can dally at the Crossroads of Indicisiveness for a full three more months. Realistically, I think they'll pick someone else. There's a legion of young, brawny, dumb unemployed wildland firefighters in the Golden State -- what'd they need ol' me for?

Stay tuned,

Plush Bear enjoying the view.

They're paying $3,000 a month to look at my building!
